This blog is written for our winter visitors mainly but home buyers also need to take precautions.  One of the agents in our office received a call from another agent who had seen one of her listings on Craigslist.  The home in question is for sale, but also in our rental program.  The caller mentioned the property was listed for rent at about a quarter of what it is actually listed for.  The ad gave the owner's name in the email address, however it is not the owner's email, nor was he aware of the ad.  The scammers are smart enough to look up the owner of the property, making their ad appear legitimate.

I have also noticed properties for sale on Craigslist that don't exist.  The addresses are not real!

If you are not leasing or buying from a legitimate real estate company, you had better do your homework.  Don't become a victim of these scam artists.  If it looks to good to be true, it generally is.

It's going to be a very busy season, we still have a few January rentals left, but almost everything is gone for February.
